O n July 19, 2.00 p.m. local time. Twenty-five to thirty armed Islamic fundamentalists surrounded Pintu Mondal’s house. They smashed their way into the house.
The extremists repeatedly struck Dulal Mondal (age 82), who was begging for his life, with heavy weapons. Dulal Mondal died immediately after the beating.
The fundamentalists then beat Pintu mercilessly, breaking his bones and then tying his body tightly with bandages, they poured kerosene oil on his body, setting his body on fire. Pintu died soon after the fire was set. While another relative, Mintu Mondal, tried to save Pintu from the fire, the fundamentalists shoved Mintu into fire. Now Mintu and another relative in the Mondal household are trying to hang on for dear life.
The Islamic fundamentalists also took three million rupees as well. The most disturbing part about his entire incident is that despite the fact that this horrific crime took place in broad daylight, the local police have not many arrests or even investigated these crimes!
